Visual Design
Creating content’s my thing, but words don’t dwell in a vacuum. That’s why I also care about visual design and the user experience. For starters, if you want to stand out from the crowd, you’ll need a brilliant opener and a stunning image. Your images also say a lot about your brand. And our work doesn’t end when people click on the ad, social media post, or email link. The look and the feel of the landing page needs to inspire trust and mesh with the content that brought them here. If you’re selling products or services, the call-to-action should be irresistible, easy to see, and friction-free. If you’re a blogger or publisher, you’ll need well-placed ads that earn without feeling invasive. Please feel free to get in touch with me for a free consultation if you’d like to learn more. You’ll be amazed by what a little attention to visual design can do.

Photo Illustrations
Why do I bother with creating photo illustrations for so much of what I write and edit? Because sometimes Public Domain, Creative Commons, and even paid stock images aren’t enough. And I believe high-quality content deserves a stand-out featured image. 65 percent of people are visual learners and content with pictures and graphics have been found to be 43 percent more persuasive. Also, content with relevant, helpful, and/or powerful images gets 94 percent more views than content without. (Source: Hubspot) Oh, and I also have an unfortunate Photoshop addiction.
Infographics
Infographics can often make complex topics easier to grasp, plus I can’t ever assume that anyone will actually want to read every single word I write. People have different ways of processing information and I aim to please. 65 percent of people are visual learners. Content with pictures and graphics have been found to be 43 percent more persuasive. (Source: Hubspot)
Memes
When you want to get your message across on social media, memes are definitely the way to go. Plus, images (and videos) are more than 40 percent more likely to get shared on social media than other types of content. That’s right: More than 40 percent! (Source: Buffer) People like visuals, plus Facebook’s algorithms favor them. The majority of the memes I’ve designed are for political sites and pages. But what the hey. If I can get thousands to share, react, and comment on memes about healthcare and income inequality, imagine what I can do for your business.
Miscellaneous Graphics
Here are miscellaneous graphic designs I’ve done for fliers, websites, business cards with logos, and more. For more websites I’ve either designed or created graphics for, see August Hill Architects, Groovy Man Stuff, The Workshop Tasting Room, Addicting Info, and American News X.
