“Rockin’ Rio Nido” Column for the Sonoma County Gazette
May 2011, with Elena Cronis
Intro: RNHOA Memorial Day BBQ, FRN board members election, and beautification projects kick off the summer season in Rockin’ Rio Nido.
The Sonoma County Gazette is a monthly community newspaper that features columns from towns in the area. Each of these reports covers local news, gossip, events, and issues of interest. Back in 2011, my then-hometown of Rio Nido didn’t have a column, so my friend and neighbor Elena Chronis and I started “Rockin’ Rio Nido.”
For decades, Rio Nido was mainly a summer vacation community. But as more of us year-rounders moved in, we started to organize and promote neighborhood improvement projects. In May 2011, we wrote up the Rio Nido Homeowners Association Memorial Day barbecue, Friends of Rio Nido board elections, and neighborhood beautification projects. In addition, we introduced our first pet of the month.
